At Helston Light and Life Free Methodist Church, we are committed to spreading the word of God and the joy of living a life of faith. We believe in a personal relationship with God and in the power of prayer. We strive to create an atmosphere of love, acceptance, and understanding, and we are open to all who seek a closer relationship with Him.

meet the team
Strategic Leadership Team (SLT)
Our Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) here at Helston Light & Life are those who work closely with our pastors to oversee the life of the church. Though day-to-day decisions (setting the sails) are made by Pastor Michael; the SLT provide encouragement, challenge and accountability. Their role is to ensure the church is healthily pursing its mission statement.

Shirley Bassett
Shirley is our organised Church Secretary and has been working with us since 2004. Shirley runs the Church Office and helps with the smooth running of life here at church.
Lesley Bretton
Lesley has been working with us since 2014 and serves West Cornwall Light and Life as the bookkeeper.
Rebecca Lugg
Rebecca is our dedicated Safeguarding Lead, helping with organising DBS checks and training for all who work with our children.
Michael & Lesley Bretton
Pastor Michael and his wife Lesley have been leading the church since 2009, before which Michael served at Carnforth FMC.
Mike & Meg Britton
Mike has been leading our youth ministry since his arrival in March 2021. Along with Meg they continue to respond to God's call in this part of West Cornwall and as part of the Light and Life Family.
