WAYS TO DONATE

Registered Charity No: 1147067

IN PERSON

You can give on a Sunday by cash, cheque or card. We have a collection box at the Connect Desk and a card reader. We take up a monthly offering on the 1st Sunday of the month.

STANDING ORDER

It is a great help to us if you can commit to regular giving from your Bank or Building Society. If you need help setting this up with your bank then please chat with Lesley Bretton.

JUSTGIVING

You can give online through our JustGiving page. Please visit our page here.

GIFTAID

If you are a UK taxpayer and eligible for GiftAid then when giving via JustGiving you are able to choose GiftAid as an option. However if giving in person or by Standing Order we have GiftAid forms available.

Money matters

The work of Light & Life is almost entirely funded by the church family and friends. If you would like to give financially to the work of Light & Life, Thank You! We give in response to God’s generosity to us and to resource His mission to the world. All giving is private and only the bookkeeper/Gift Aid Secretary know who gives what.

Making the most of your giving

You can give regularly from your Bank or Building Society by Standing Order, with cash or cheque in the offering, or make a one-off donation. However you choose to give, if you are a UK tax payer (Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax) we can claim the tax back on your donation at no cost to you – currently 25p, plus any transactional relief, on every £1 you give! Please download and fill in the GiftAid Form for gifts to West Cornwall. (Don’t forget to let us know if your circumstances change and you no longer pay tax).

How Light & Life gives

Light & Life is committed to giving away at least a tenth of its annual income to other groups who are engaged in God’s work around the world. Currently we give to mission work in Colombia, Madagascar and Uganda, and to church planting in the UK.

What does Light & Life spend money on?

We aim to use money as wisely as possible. Good stewardship is our priority. We focus expenditure on reaching out to communities and supporting individuals and families.

Gift Aid FAQs

Can I give anonymously?

As you have to sign a declaration form (for Gift Aid or Standing Orders) and the money given has to be recorded, it is not possible for your giving to be completely anonymous. The Gift Aid Secretary only needs to know your details to enable reclaiming the money from the HM Revenue and Customs. No member of the Pastoral staff will have access to your giving details.

Can I back date Gift Aid on previous giving?

Gift Aid can be back-dated up to 4 years if we have a record of those gifts.

How much can I give by Gift Aid in one year?

If you do not pay any Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax you cannot give by Gift Aid. If you pay Income Tax you should not give through Gift Aid more than your taxable income. You can calculate this by subtracting your total allowances (tax code with a nought added) from your gross annual income multiply the balance by 20% which will be the amount of tax you pay. Remember you also pay tax on Building Society and Bank savings accounts and this tax can also be claimed under Gift Aid.

What if my circumstances change?

Please notify us if you no longer pay an amount of Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax equal to the tax we reclaim on your donations.

If you have any other questions please get in touch with the Church Office, or our bookkeeper/Gift Aid secretary.
